Here I am in Derry!
Yes, I managed to move all my staff from Cork to Derry! Well why did I complain so much, I had just 2 HUGE luggages, a backpack and 2 big bags… is that a lot for a wee girl like me? Noooo, I mean I need clothes to cover myself in the cold land of Derry… Anyway, my trip was fine, and I could move everything in Dublin bus station without any help (actually no one asked me if I needed any help, so that means people couldn’t notice my pain!).
But here I am! I live in a lovely home, just 10 minutes walking from the city centre. My housemate is a very nice Italian girl (Francesca) who has been living here for 6 years, so she seems to know everybody… well actually everybody seems to know everybody, but I like that.
The accent over here is really interesting! They speak soooo fast! and the funny thing is that they make fun of the Cork accent, saying it’s impossible to understand. Have they ever tried to listen to themselves??? Anyway, as all of you know, I love this accent, so I can’t complain, and if I don’t understand what they say I just smile and nod. Yesterday I was in a café and a man try to tell me something, it was 11am and I think he was already completely drunk, so I asked him to repeat what he tried to tell me 3 times, at the 4th time I just smiled and nodded saying I was Italian and I was really sorry, but I don’t understand English… I don’t think I’ve really missed the chance to meet the man of my life… but who knows…
I found a job… well I haven’t started it yet, next week. It’s a restaurant half Italian and half Indian. I still think it’s a weird combination, but I like the idea to switch from my Italian accent to my Indian one (which apparently is really good when I try to do the Scottish one). So I will pass by a “Buonasera” to a “Namasté” with no problem!
So that’s all so far!
But I will keep you posted about this new experience over here!
Love from Free Derry!
